What are the benefits of membership in Flagstaff Archers?
Primarily, Flagstaff Archers maintains a range for their members at Fort Tuthill. In addition, throughout the year, we put on various “members only” events. These may include Range Day, a summer evening league, a night time Coon Shoot and a Turkey Shoot in November. Membership puts you in contact with like minded individuals. Fellow club members are a great source of information and assistance for both hunting and non-hunting archers. Your membership supports archery in our community and wildlife conservation n our state.
Can I bring a guest to the range?
Yes. All members and guests must have completed a liability waiver BEFORE they are eligible to use range facilities. Waivers are available at the kiosk located at the entrance to the sight in course. Completed waivers may be deposited in the associated mailbox. If you choose to not fill out a waiver, you are personally liable as our insurance does not cover archers who have not completed a waiver. Archers under 18 must be accompanied by an ADULT. Guests are defined as one time visitors of a CURRENT member. Please do not steal a membership by either “sharing” the combination with non-paying archers or by regularly bringing “friends” that are not members.
I joined in the middle of the year, why am I asked to renew in January?
Like an Arizona hunting/fishing license, membership is valid for a calendar year. Flagstaff Archers is a great value. Having our membership renewed annually encourages archers to support the co-operative range year round. We rely on our dues being paid annually (and early in the calendar year) to order targets and other essential supplies at the best possible price often in bulk and sometimes months before they are actually consumed. Additionally, an annual membership encourages archers to practice year round which creates more proficient, responsible, and ethical archers.
Where can I sight in my broadheads?
Due to liability issues and regulations by the Coconino County Parks Board, broadheads are not allowed at the range, even in your quiver. We recommend that you both sight in and practice with broadheads before hunting. Many suitable locations are available near Flagstaff.
What if I forget or did not receive the new gate combination?
If you forget, or for some reason the updated combination did not get to you, call Martin at 853-2298, or email him at flagarchers@yahoo.com and request the combination. Prior to giving the combination out, he will verify your membership status, so he may not give it to you immediately. Please understand that with close to 200 members, it is unrealistic to expect him to remember if any single person is a current member.
How often is the gate combination changed?.
Currently, we are changing the gate combination on the first of each month. It may be that we do not get out to change it on the first day, but should be changed by the third of the month at the latest. If you have not received the new combination by the 25th of the preceding month, contact Martin per the “forgot the combination” answer above.
